"History Education at a Time of War" Conference, Berlin
On 23-24 October 2023, Confronting Memories gathered over 40 history educators from 12 countries, including Armenia, Georgia, Germany, Moldova, Poland and Ukraine to discuss the important issue of teaching recent and ongoing conflicts at a small conference in Berlin.
We tested and gave feedback on new lesson materials on the Transnistria War of 1992, the 1991-2 Georgian Civil War and the ongoing Nagorno-Karabakh War. These will be finalised and gathered in an educational toolkit on teaching sensitive topics.
Thanks to Stiftung Erinnerung, Verantwortung, Zukunft, Football Makes History and Georg-Eckert-Institut for leading interesting workshops about innovative tools and ideas to use in the history classroom! And thanks to Auswärtiges Amt for their support and hospitality.
