On 26 February, 2025, the Confronting Memories Ambassadors arrived from their homes in Armenia, Georgia and Moldova to our Midterm Evaluation Workshop in Tbilisi, Georgia to reconnect and exchange on our experiences since the Summer School in Dilijan, Armenia.
The Confronting Memories Ambassadors are extensionists of the Confronting Memories methodology, which champions multiperspectivity in history education alongside support for the Council of Europe Core Competences for Democratic Citizenship: empathy, critical thinking, attitudes and values. Their work relies on two main activities, the training of new teachers in the methodology as well as the implementation and evaluation of materials in the classroom.
Since the Summer School, most of the Training of Trainer (ToT) Sessions in Moldova and Armenia had been completed, bringing 100+ more history educators into the trained pool of teachers using the Confronting Memories methodology. Additionally, our dedicated Ukrainian colleagues — who implemented their own online Training of Trainers to 97 history educators –were able to tune in digitally and share their experiences.
During the workshop, ambassadors exchanged on the main issues and discussed the challenges that complicate their work as Ambassadors and further worked on the methodology with the help of our pedagogical consultant and expert, Bojana Dujkovic-Blagojevic.
